as i said in my last few posts, i went to torrey over the weekend. i was going to go pick up chloe's desk that my grandpa had made her (because i thought it was supposed to be a surprise), but jeremy had to work and i don't own a truck, so i couldn't go get it. my grandma had kind of mentioned something about the desk to chloe, so i figured it was okay to spill the rest of the beans. as soon as sean heard the word "torrey", he was like "torrey? what? desk? let's go!" and me and chloe were all "seriously??" and sean shouted "yeah, i'm down, we can put the desk in MY truck!". so i called lee to see if she wanted to go. it was so last minute, but lee was all for it! so around 6:30 p.m., we had the truck packed and were on our way! grandpa was so excited to have us there. "i get you ALL to myself??" hehe, he's so cute. grandma was in orem for the weekend, so yep! we were alllllll grandpa's! he was so excited to see us all, and were so happy to see him and be on our mini-vacation. when he took us into his shop to see the desks, my heart stopped. i couldn't BELIEVE how gorgeous they turned out. i couldn't wait to get mine home, as much as i would rather have stayed in torrey for a few days :) but i couldn't stop visualizing the spots in my room that i could put it. oh, it's so lovely. after oggling at the beautiful desks for a bit, we were all pretty tired from the big weekend (we went to the m.c. hammer and vanilla ice concert that friday night before, for chloe's bachelorette party. soooo much fun! then the bridal shower on saturday afternoon), so we made some "maddie soup" and crashed relatively early. we woke up around 9 a.m. on sunday morning so make it in time for breakfast (at one of the only restaurants open during the winter in torrey). grandpa paid for us all (as if he hadn't done enough already!), then when we got back to the house, grandpa got the four-wheelers all ready for us, and we went on a little ride. of course, i made everyone stop every few minutes so i could take pictures of a random cool looking tree, or a rock, or just other various unexciting things. but i think i got some fun shots here and there. lately, i've been obsessed with the macro function on my compact canon powershot. the images below were all taken with that little camera, and i was quite impressed with the results! torrey is a beautiful little town, with lots to explore! after the first four-wheeling excursion, chloe and sean were exhausted, so lee and i went for another round. we pretty much covered the entire little town in about an hour. driving slowly down all of the little "streets" (more like dirt roads), looking at the houses, just getting to know the area, really. it was really nice. felt good to get lots of fresh air that day.

maddie, I loved the picture of the old barn with the old car in front. Nice! And yes, Dad sure did a good job on your desk. What does Chloe's desk look like?
