such vengeance.

meet such vengeance.
they are an up and coming metal band, founded in the utah county area.
they are extremely talented, with intense drive and passion to boot!
you can check them out on their myspace page here.

when my friend lindsie asked us if we could take some pictures for her husband's metal band
(he's the guy on the far right, josh), i didn't know what to say!  it was something i had never tried
and i didn't know we were ready, if we needed lighting equipment, if we
had that "badass" touch . . .
but we decided just to go for it!  and we were gonna bring it!

first of all.  we had NO lighting equipment.  zero.  i was panicked.
i went online to order some, but my go-to places were both closed in
observance of a jewish holiday (i can't recall which one).
last minute, we decided to run to home depot and get a few utility lights.
jeremy and i found a few that had adjustable light-stands, and lee had her dad make us
some hanging light-bulb cords!
we went out to josh's grandpa's old woodwork shop lot and had
TONS of different options of textured walls, old garages, shops, a cool blue house . . .
it was pretty much perfect!

for as nervous as we were, i think this was probably our most fun, exciting shoot to date!
the guys were super chill, and up for anything, and they were all very natural in front of the camera.

here are a few of the shots we got!

lindsie is a WHIZ at photoshop, so she's going to teach me some things.
so, i may be posting some fun re-edits later on!

well, i'm going to take a little bath, then maybe get to bed on time.
i hope you're all doing wonderfully :)

i'm trying to document my week with pictures again,
so hopefully i will have a fun, personal post to share with you later on.

goodnight!

you know what works too? i go to home depot and get the lighting there. i got that tip from a pro long long ago. I ended up buying the pro stuff anyway. when i went to home depot, i couldn't tell the difference :( try it! it'll save you money and you can be less limited and make awesome photos like this!

  10. Amazing job Maddie!!! I loved reading about the nervous prep work behind it and I absolutely adored the outcome. My favorite is the one through the windows and the ones with the lights hanging down. Very dark and mysterious and so very unique. You're such a genius... !!
